COVID Lockdown: Resident Evil

Posted by  on January 10, 2021

My COVID Lockdown game for today is Resident Evil.

While we’re in our third lockdown I decided to revisit some old favourites, but with a twist. The plan is to take a look at some of my all time favourite retro games but on a different system. Today I’m playing Resident Evil on the Sega Saturn.

Royal Mail Video Games stamps

My Royal Mail “Video Games” stamps arrived this morning

Some weeks back Royal Mail announced they would publish a range of stamps celebrating classic UK-designed video games. I ordered the “Video Games Limited Edition Gamer Collectors Pack” because, quite frankly, I need that presentation case (it’s really a tin so I’m going to call it a tin from now on).

Well today it arrived…

Straight away I knew it had to be the stamps. It said “DO NOT BEND” on the envelope but I had to in order to pick it up. Sorry postie, don’t be too disappointed in me.

Happy birthday to me, happy birthday to me

Happy birthday Dear Munky. I’m now 43.

I don’t really celebrate my birthday. Not because I’m shy, or anything like that, I just don’t really do the celebration thing now I’m older. I’m not in for surrounding myself with a bunch of people, cheering me on, while I get another year closer to death. I’ll still have a happy birthday, but it’ll be quietly happy rather than the booze-fueled, party-on birthdays of my youth.

From Vaping to Spectrum to White Lines…

RANDOMIZE USR

If anything ever really offered a true representation of the randomness of my life it’s been these last few weeks.

Vaping …

It all started with a loose 510 connector on my Vaporesso Target Pro. The tank kept getting a wobble on so I stripped the base down to find the 510 connector is a “pop-on” type. I wasn’t going to open it up every other week to pop the connector back on so I decided to order a Fat Daddy v4 510 connector from https://www.modmaker.co.uk/. It arrived pretty quickly. I had to Dremel out the hole on the Vaporesso for it to fit but the final job was worth it.

… to Spectrum 48K …

I decided to do some of those soldering jobs I’d been putting off while my soldering gear was out. My first task was to composite mod my old Spectrum 48K. I took my faithful old Speccy out of storage and, before getting its composite on, I decided to take it for a test run. This presented me with a slight problem… I haven’t owned a cassette deck in 25 years. After finding a couple of games online in TZX format I converted them to MP3 and dropped them on to my iPhone. I know there’s a long list of people having already done this but I can’t help but love the ability of 30 year old technology running in harmony with modern technology.
